Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" area. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that there is a separate island to the west of Montreal however, this part of West Island is home to every aspect of the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often cited, however her short time in the city did not last long. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. Her first ambition was to be a dancer. However, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow her dance partners she had. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as six feet and one inch tall. Once I outgrew male partners at that point, I gave up. A lot of dancers go from dancing into acting. As for Brugel, it was her drama instructor who pushed her into this path. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the annual school production. She auditioned and eventually got the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the 20+ years since Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across small and big screens. She attracted the most interest when she was offered the role in the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian actor during the season 1 of the show and was not seen much.
